Admission in second year (third semester) is done through Lateral Entry. As per regulations of AICTE and Dept. of DHTE & SD, Govt. of Jharkhand, Lateral Entry to Second Year Diploma Courses shall be permissible up to a maximum of 20% seats of 1st year approved intake, plus the unfilled vacancies of the First year as specified in the AICTE Approval Process Handbook.
Admission in Diploma Engineering courses (Lateral Entry) is done through the entrance examinations conducted by JCECEB, Govt. of Jharkhand. Candidates who qualify in the said examinations (Common Merit Rank) are eligible to take admission in the respective courses. Admission at the Institute level, in case of vacant seats, shall be done on merit, and shall be taken after the counseling process of JCECEB is over. Candidates outside the state of Jharkhand shall also be eligible for admission.
A candidate should be 12th Science (with Mathematics as one of the subject) OR 10th + (2 years ITI) with appropriate trade OR 12th Science with Vocational / Technical subject.

The institute took Lateral Entry admission in the AY 2014-15 (for session 2013-16) as per 20% of approved intake & 1st year vacant seats of the AY 2013-14 as per AICTE /Govt. of Jharkhand norms.
Jharkhand Govt. considered 10% of approved intake for admission in 3rd semester through Lateral Entry in the AY 2014-15 (for session 2013-16). Accordingly, it reduced the seats from the available Lateral Entry seats for the next AY 2015-16 (for session 2014-17).
The institute took Lateral Entry admission in the AY 2015-16 (for session 2014-17) as per AICTE /Govt. of Jharkhand norms and submitted the list of 60 provisionally admitted students to the Jharkhand Govt. for regularization. The Jharkhand Govt. refused the registration of rest 26 students. The institute, in the interest of 26 aggrieved students, approached the Hon’be High Court of Jharkhand at Ranchi (W.P.(C) No. 2203 of 2016) for justice. All 26 aggrieved students appeared in their semester exams by virtue of the interim orders of the Hon’ble High Court. But the result of 6th semester of those 26 students was withheld. In the absence of the publication of the result of 6th semester examination, they would have been denied the opportunity of getting mark sheet and final Diploma Certificate. Resultantly, they ran the risk of losing their hard-earned job. Few of them were the only bread-winner of their family. In the interest of the career and life of aforesaid students. In the interest of the career of 26 students, the institute apologized to the Jharkhand Govt. for taking admission against its laid norms. It also withdrew the writ petition (W.P.(C) No. 2203 of 2016) filed in the Hon’ble High Court of Jharkhand at Ranchi. The Jharkhand Govt., in the interest of students, regularized the admission of all 26 aggrieved students, but with the condition that all types of supernumerary seats in the AY 2018-19 will be zero.
As per the letter of the Jharkhand Govt. (letter no. 999 dtd 21.11.2017), all types of supernumerary seats of the institute in the AY 2018-19 will be zero.
The institute requested the Jharkhand Govt. to reconsider its decision to reduce all types of supernumerary seats in the academic year 2018-19 to zero.
In the absence of any positive response from the Jharkhand Govt., the institute filed writ petition (W.P.C. No. 2052 of 2018) in the Hon’be High Court of Jharkhand at Ranchi.
The institute again requested the Jharkhand Govt. to reconsider its decision to reduce all types of supernumerary seats in the academic year 2018-19 to zero.
The institute took admission in the 3rd semester under Lateral Entry Scheme in Academic Year 2018-19 on the basis of open counseling held on dated 13.08.2018 and 14.08.2018 in the institute and prepared the list of provisionally admitted students.
The institute informed the Jharkhand Govt. about the provisional admission of students in the AY 2018-19 (for session 2017-20) under Lateral Entry scheme and requested for approval of the same.
